# How to Update Filestar

Filestar is automatically updated after a major release, but sometimes we make a minor patch. In these cases, you need to update manually.

Start Filestar and click the *Check for Updates* option in the *Help* menu.

If there's a new version available you can now choose to update to this version.

If you're using the [CLI](/automation/filestar-cli.md) you can also use the *update* command to install the latest version of Filestar.
