# Where is my files?

A common misconception about Filestar is that you need to download the files after the conversion.

Filestar will always process your files on your computer [except for a few exceptions](/other/privacy-and-security.md). \
\
By default, Filestar will save your files in the same directory as the original file. You can change this by setting the "Output Directory".

After the conversion has finished you can click on the output filename and access the file.
